It’s August already, and a it’s been a long time since I’ve sent out a newsletter. It’s been an incredibly busy year, but an exciting one as well.
Last fall, I signed on as an illustrator with Guardian Angel Publishing. I’ve since illustrated
for the company, one of which is now in print and ebook format! It’s called Shaping Up the Year by Tracey M. Cox. This is a concept book for little ones, featuring shapes, colors, and holidays. The illustrations for this book were done with cut paper – a fun way to create art for both old and young alike! I’ll get a page up soon on just how I did it so you can give it a try.
The second book is entitled As I Watch, and it describes the life cycle of a butterfly. I really enjoyed working on this one, too. The illustrations are done in oils on watercolor paper – a technique that took me a while to figure out how to do (after much online research). Sounds like another page for the ART MADE EASY!
My biggest project was finally completed at the end of June and mailed off mid-July – all of the illustrations for a picture book by Stacy Torino, the editor of Birds and Blooms magazine. These paintings were also done in oil on watercolor paper, and they involve quite a few garden scenes with lots of details. More information to come.
I still have more projects I’m working on (I think I always will!), and I’ll keep you updated on the progress.
I’ve posted information about several new
for kids that are going on right now. Deadlines are approaching, so check them out today. The Art Made Easy Monthly contest is back as well!
It’s almost time for a new school year, which means new art lessons as well. Keep checking the Art Blog for new pages.
Until then, keep creating!
