The Flesh-Eating Wolf

by Balpreet
(Calgary, Canada)

My drawing is called The Flesh-Eating Wolf because it is a very SCARY wolf (at least that's what I think) with BIG sharp teeth. It also is called The Flesh-Eating Wolf because of it's glowing yellow eyes.I made a kind of effect to it's fur to make it look like it is just floating in the wild. The wolf's ear looks like it has been eaten by a creature from the wild. Also the ear of the wolf has red veins. The Flesh-Eating Wolf looks more like a werewolf than a normal howling wolf, but I made it imaging a wolf. I made it in August 2010, and it was the best drawing I EVER made, but I am trying to make more drawings like it to inspire me to become an artist when I grow up. Art is one of my favourite things. Well that's all I know about my artwork (and me).

Rescue (Alternate title- Escape)

by Tiffany
(United States)

If animals are in need, we should help! Don't wait until big accidents like BP oil spill open your eyes.

If animals are in need, we should help! Don't wait until big accidents like BP oil spill open your eyes.

My name is Tiffany and I drew this because of the BP Oil Spill. I think we need to all be aware that animals are in need of our help. I mean, we are animals too! (well, mammals) Not just the BP oil spill, but all over the world these kind of things are happening. We can't have a BIG accident telling us to help, but we need to know even from the slightest things- like a bird stuck in a plastic bag.

As for my drawing, I used all HB pencil for it. I was planning to color it, but I spent so long perfecting the lines. o_____o Sorry for the grayish smudges! Lead got rubbed on my hand...This was drawn manga-style.

Well, as for the symbols, the girl has wings and the wings signify that we can be "angels" too and have good hearts to help. She is carrying off the birds to safety. (The one in the arms is a young heron) Originally I was going to have gooey black stuff at the bottom for oil. I decided against it because the pure feeling would have been taken away.

Freedom Song

by Maleni
(Avenal, California, USA)

We were studying the Civil War and we learned that in the Great Migration, one thing that the slaves could take with them was their music. That's why I called this painting "Freedom Song". First I drew and painted the instrument, then I added the flag and the notes and colored them with markers. I used tissue paper on the background.
