Rocky Mountain Sheep

Media: Watercolor and color pencils on 12x14 inch 140lb Coldpressed Watercolor paper

The most challenging part was definitely drawing the fur and capturing the different shades of light that was reflected on the sheep. I was very satisfied with the texture on the horns and the vibrant colors. I learned a lot while experimenting with color theory and applying it into my piece to portray a realistic animal. It was a pretty interesting exercise!

My husband, grandma and grandpa, the teachers at the daycare and I are all impressed by how well she draws and her fine motor skills as she uses the scissors very well! What did you find most challenging about creating the artwork?
Earthquake is a fearsome experience. I have tried to project the feeling of local people, demolished structures and also the support from Lord Buddha with a smiling face. Expression of the monks after this natural calamity is very difficult to illustrate.

What are you most pleased with?
After completion I’m satisfied with the totality of the drawing. I personally feel that the drawing is well balanced with Nature, People and spiritual power.

Did you learn anything from creating this piece of art?
Recent Earthquake in North Bengal of India influenced me for creating this drawing. I had to study a lot about earthquake and it’s after effects which enhanced my knowledge. While drawing and applying colours, I experimented with various tone of colours and found the results are quite satisfactory.
