"Fall Flare"

by Anna
(New York City)

This abstract depiction represents the changing of seasons from summer to fall. These leaves have vibrant colors and shapes that mark an end which leads to a new beginning. When winter ends we know that the leaves will be anew. The black center leaf represents how we humans carbonate the earth and it seems all of the pure nature has been lost in that one leaf. The black blades of grass on each corner represent it slowly creeping into all of life and nature, and the center black leaf is like the black hole ready to devour nature. The newspaper represents us and how we're starting to take up a lot of space. Where once there had been a forest there is now an industrialized city. The leaves with the newspaper is like us moving in ready to cut down a whole forest from its center and the life that lives there to "better" our lives.
