The project I am currently working on finishing up is a nonfiction rhyming picture book I wrote entitled Firefly Night, published by Guardian Angel Publishing. I wrote it after a camping trip we took in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. We had pitched out tents in a valley with mountains all around. When night fell, the fireflies came out and lit up the mountains like blinking Christmas lights! It was so beautiful!

The illustrations for this story are as much fun to do as the story was to write. Since the setting is during the night, I’ve decided to do them in scratchboard with a mostly black background.
