My name is Samantha Bell and I live in the upstate of South Carolina with my husband, four children, and lots of animals. Growing up in central Florida, I always said I wanted to be an artist, and my mom and dad took me back and forth to art lessons for a number of years. I even entered a local art contest and won a few ribbons. Talk about great family support! |

Throughout high school and college, I became interested in music and history. A few years after I graduated, I decided to pursue drawing again, re-learning and improving my skills through lessons and practice. You can view some examples of my artwork here. I then began teaching art classes and have continued to do so over the past twenty years. Now with children of my own, I never have a shortage of students! |
But that's not my main job. I homeschool my children, and we're involved in quite a few activities throughout the year. More about that on my homeschooling blog.
I'm also an author and illustrator. My writing has been published both online and in print, and I've also written and/or illustrated a number of children's books. Be sure to check out my current projects too!
I also do commissioned artwork from time to time. If you're interested in a pencil portrait or another original piece, please contact me.
What Else I Do:
- Help plan the Write2Ignite! Writing Conference
- Play the oboe
- T-tapp
- Occasionally go to the store in my pajamas
- Dress up like a cow for Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A
What I Don't Do But Wish I Did:
- Sing well
- Plant a garden every spring
- Wash my car regularly
- Grow my own spices
- Fix a leaky sink
What I've Done Before:
- Threw candy in Christmas parades
- Held a baby alligator
- Raised chicks in the bathtub
- Traveled to Japan
- Ate a piece of rattlesnake
