Work at Home

Do you want to work at home? With a family of six living on one income, I knew I had to find a way to earn some extra money. For months and months I scoured the Internet looking for online job opportunities.

Every once in a while I would come across the "perfect position" -- one for which I was well-qualified, involved just the right amount of working hours, and had a good pay rate. But after applying for one such position, I had a rude and unpleasant awakening: after I sent in my resume, the employer sent out a mass email stating that over 1000 people had applied!

I came across Site Build It!, or SBI!. And then, a while later, I read about it again. And then again. And again. And I was convinced. Others found successful work at home by using SBI!, even moms. So then, why not me too?

I would build a site about something I really enjoy – creating art and teaching art – and at the same time earn an income. Maybe...yes...yes...it did seem possible. I had to try.

I wasn't even computer-saavy. The most I had done on the Internet was search on Google, buy from sites like eBay and Amazon, and check my email.

But I did it! Building this site wasn't easy -- I’ve spent a lot of hours working at it, and I’m still working on it. But I do have a lot of help. SBI! takes me step by step in creating a site that the search engines will find. I don't even have to learn HTML -- they provide all the tools I need (and then some!). The only thing that limits how far I can go with my site is --- well, me!

SO HOW IS IT WORKING FOR ME? (Updated March 2011)

Art Made Easy is now in it's fifth year, and for much of Years 2 and 3 I did very little with it. But today it averages almost 30,000 visitors a month, and I'm earning money from AdSense and affiliate ads. Not bad for a site constructed by someone who didn't have a clue how to start!

And my goal as I keep building it? To create a full-time income writing about something I enjoy!

Here's a video testimony from another SBI! owner. It's a good reminder for me that I'm not alone in my search for a better way -- and I'm not alone now that I've found it!

With Site Build It!, I'm able to share with others around the world the same tips and techniques that I teach my local art students while earning an income. Now that's a great deal!
